What is so Great About the Airbus A-380 it is Only 9 Feet Longer Than The Boeing 747
The French are touting their Airbus Aircraft as the greatest aviation innovation since sliced bread. Well if that is not the biggest loaf, that I have ever seen or heard. Yes, it is the biggest airliner, but it is exactly only 9-feet longer than the 747, built 40 years ago by The Boeing Company, so why is everyone so impressed?
It is amazing that the Air Bus Company has spent almost as much in PR as they did designing this monstrosity. Alright then lets have a big party in Dubai? Sure enough that is exactly what they did, with photo-ops and all. A person stands next to the plane and the entire background is an aircraft and the person looks like an ant? Wow, you got a picture next to a big plane? Whoopy Doo?
And yes it is 9-feet longer, including that extension on the tail cone, nice one! And yet for this extra nine-feet, you now have to deal with a 50-foot longer wingspan and a vertical stabilizer of 16 feet higher and you do not even want to know how much more fuel the gas guzzler uses. And as far as the price tag, well lets not even go there.
If you want to waste your money on one and look like a decadent Arab Prince, dismissing their values and heritage with egos to match the size of this aircraft, then go for it. But if you are a man of intellect, talent and class you will be much wiser in a Boeing Aircraft, one that can actually fit into most modern day airports. This Airbus A-380 is either the biggest Air Bus or the biggest joke, but only time will tell which.
