The Power of Strong Effort - Always Do Your Best And Life Will Give You It\’s Best
The average professional baseball player makes around 2.6 million dollars a year. The ball player at the top of the scale makes that much every month and a half! You can research the different pay scales of most vocations and see a similar difference. In the sales profession there are similar spreads in pay levels. For example the average real estate agent might make around $40,000 to $50,000 per year while the top agents average that amount every month.
What is the difference? Is it because of greater skill or talent? Or is it luck? Why does one person make $40,000 a year at their full time profession and another person in the same business, with the same resources and probably the same educational materials available, earn so much more?
Skill and talent are important but skill can be developed (through effort) and talent is cheap. There is more to be said for applied effort. It is important to do your best in every part of life. What if you just have average talent and skill, like most people (that\'s why it\'s called average)? How could you ever hope to excel and be at the top of your pay scale? What makes the high paid guy high paid is not always his talent. As a matter of fact it is rarely his talent. It is almost always because he tries harder. He applies himself more diligently and he does his best more often than the average guy does. The interesting thing is that he probably is just average in his talent or skill level or at best started out with average skill. That means that average or even below average talent is not an excuse for average or below average performance.
Doing your best is not difficult. Actually, being average and lazy is more difficult. It creates more hardship when you do just enough to get by. Because in reality \"just enough\" is usually not quite enough. You will find yourself gradually drifting down stream. You will find that you eventually get to the point where, at least in some part of your life, you are coming up short. To do your best is achievable by anyone, yet the majority of folks never do their best. They do just enough to get by. Just enough to pay the bills. Just enough to keep their job. Just enough to live the lifestyle they have become accustomed to.
Have you ever thought about how much better your life would be if you always did your best? Think about that and then ask yourself this question: \"how often do I give my best?\" If you can honestly say to yourself that you frequently give your best, it will be evident in the lifestyle you are living. If you are frequently giving your best on the job or in your business, than you should be at the top of your pay scale (unless you have just been in your line of work for a short while). Try it for thirty days and see if anything changes for the better in your life!
