Network Marketing Success - The Communication Artist
Do you know how to communicate to experience network marketing success? I had the pleasure of talking to two different people involved in the exact same network marketing company within two days of each other. Their communication styles were very different. I could actually visualize what the network marketing business had to offer when I was talking to \"Judy\", but not so much when talking to \"John\".
I knew neither person, and I was talking to them over the phone in both cases. We do not have the benefit of a personal relationship, so if we want to get outside our inner circle, we must use our communication skills to determine if there is gong to be a possibility of a relationship.
Determining a person\'s personality is an important skill in the art of communication and in network marketing success. As we are building our network marketing business, we increasingly rely on email, cell phones, and regular phones. We have to explain exactly what we mean or if we\'re on the phone, be sure we use inflection, smile, and an upbeat tone.
On the computer, we might use smiley faces if we are playing around or LOL (if we\'re being funny), JK (for Just Kidding), tell them your joking around, and choose words that are naturally less abrasive.
Words like \"you\" and \"your\" instead of \"many people\" or \"we\" in certain cases may make the reader feel we are pointing fingers.
Example: A person might say, \"As network marketers, we should work to improve our communication skills.\" rather than saying, \"You need to improve your communication skills.\" Everyone, including the author, can improve communication skills.
Example: Spouses conversation regarding kids chores.
Wife says, \"You always let the kids get by without doing their chores.\" In this case, the word \"you\" is very accusing and the husband will respond with equal and opposite emotion because he feels threatened.
If the wife had said, \"I really need your help. Would you help me get the kids to do their chores? I\'d appreciate it.\"
Doesn\'t sound the same does it? If you are smiling when you are talking on the phone, it comes through to the listener. The same is true with stress, distraction, excitement or sadness.
Communication is one of the main keys to network marketing success. The art of communication is realizing how little is really about what is said and how much of our communication is inflection, tone of voice, facial expression and body language.
