Flying From Gatwick Airport - Add A Little Luxury To Your Holiday

September 17, 2008 By: admin Category: Aviation

Are you fed up with overcrowded airport terminals, no where to sit and everywhere you turn theres a queue, a queue to buy your coffee, a queue for the loo, a queue to buy a newspaper. With the increased security surrounding the UKs airports things can only get worse, or can they?

Well, there is a solution one that doesnt require loads of cash, but will take the strain out of your wait, add a little luxury to your holiday and allow you to relax before flyingan airport lounge.

Beyond the hustle and bustle of the airport terminal lie the airport lounges. Once regarded as an expensive extra for business travellers, they are no longer beyond the reach of everyday travellers. Airport lounge prices start from as low as just 12 making them well within the grasp of even the budget traveller.

These little havens let you escape from the overcrowded terminals with their screaming kids, the assault course of baggage and stretched out bodies that are trying to grab a quick shut eye before taking off.

Airport lounges and the facilities they offer vary from airport to airport, some permit children, others only allow children over the age of 12 and opening times vary too, so its well worth checking to see if all your requirements are catered for.

Currently at London Gatwick airport there are two lounges one at the North Terminal and one at the South.

Located airside on the upper level in the South Terminal is the Servisair Lounge. This lounge is open from 5am to 9.30pm and permits children under the age of 12, making it perfect for families. Facilities in the Servisair lounge include: air conditioning, refreshments (soft and alcoholic, newspapers, magazines, television, flight information monitor and shower facilities. For the business traveller and passengers requiring internet access there is fax, telephone and Wi-Fi access. The lounge has a strict dress code of smart casual with no shorts and its facilities are available to ticketed passengers only.

The Aviance Executive Lounge is situated after security on Level 1 at the North Terminal and facilities offered include air conditioning, alcoholic and soft refreshments, disabled access, fax, internet, newspapers and magazines, telephone and television. The lounge is open from 6am to 9pm daily and is available to passengers holding a valid flight ticket. Only adults and children over the age of 12 are permitted access to the Aviance Executive Lounge and a smart casual dress code is observed with a ban on shorts.

Both lounges are available for a maximum of three hours.

To avoid overcrowding, tickets to airport lounges are limited so it is advisable to book your airport lounge early. Tickets must be purchased at least 24 hours in advance and can be purchased on the internet.

With the great facilities on offer, Gatwick airport lounges offer a great way to escape the crowds, have a drink, catch up with last minute emails, watch TV or just simply relax prior to your flight.
