Dream Stealers - "Turtles Can’t Dance"
I often think back to when I was ..oh maybe 4 or 5 years old. I had two small turtles in a glass bowl. I had the bowl all fixed up real nice with some small plants and rocks and of course water. One day the two turtles were on their back legs leaning face to face against each other and going around in circles. I went running into my dad.daddy..daddy the turtles are dancinghe shooed me off with a very emphaticturtles cant dance. But I knew the turtles were dancing!!I could never figure out why he said they couldnt. I saw them!.
I realized, as I got older that people, even those who mean well and have your best interest at heartcant always see what you see. They accept things as they are supposed to be, as they are taught they should be, and are very willing to express that upon you.
When you look at a new business opportunity, especially a network marketing plan, and you become excited about it because you see something in it, and you approach your friends and relatives to take a look at it, you will many times get the standard aw..those things never work. My reponse: Thats ok John I just wanted to give you the opportunity, because if this takes off and Im making big money, I didnt want you coming back at me and getting upset because I didnt tell you about it. I immediately think back to my dad. How do you know it cant work, you havent seen it?
Many well-intended entrepreneurs have been deprived of pursuing something they saw as beneficial to them by Dream Stealers. Thanks to my Dad, I have never allowed this to happen to me. When I see something I believe in, and know it to be true, I am going to trust myself and not the opinions of those who believe this is the way it is, or the way it should be. I learned a little trick when approaching people who I knew to be very opinionated and carried the doomsday attitude. I ask them if they wouldnt mind helping me with something. People are always willing to help. Then I tell them how much I value their opinion and would they please look this over for me and tell me you think.Never fails. The ego kicks in and most of the time you will really get an honest opinion. Many times it is not what you want to hear, but at least you got them to look at your plan. Just a little sales psychology at work. So when you see turtles dancing believe in what you saw and dont let anyone steal your dream.
