Do Your Research
I have had my own network marketing business for the last ten months. It has been one of the most amazing experiences that I think I have ever had. My husband told me in month one that he didnt' think I was the kind of person who could do something like network marketing. Yet he still said, "Go for it, you never know what will happen, and besides, you don't want to sit there one year from now wondering if it would have worked." So I jumped in with both feet. The longer that I do this, the more I realize that you need to do your research. There is such a vast pool of network marketing companies out there, how is someone supposed to choose. I didn't do my research, but thank goodness I ended up with one of the best ones out there. What should you check out?
1)For starters you should check on whether or not the company is a member of the DSA or the Direct Selling Association. For those that don't know what this is, it's basically a watch dog for the industry. They make sure that companies are following a code of ethics, that they are doing what they say. (Thank goodness for me that at my companies recent conference the president of the DSA told us that we are a company that other's look up to!!)
2)Where do they stand with the Better Business Bureau? If they aren't in good standing with these guys, than maybe you should rethink your chose.
3)Who owns the company? Where is the money coming from? We all know that there are some incredible products out there and some incredible companies, but if the money isn't there a company can fold.
4)What kind of products does this company carry? Make sure that it's something you can get into. It's incredibly difficult to tell people how great something is if you're not using it.
Truth be told, there are countless things to research when choosing a company to join. I have only listed a few. Some of you may think that ten months in a company does not qualify me to give this advice, but I can honestly tell you that ten months in a network marketing business, is like ten years in the corporate world.
